We're in a good place in trouble
In Switzerland, 42% of the adult population is overweight, including 10% obese when about 19% of children and adolescents are overweight or obese.
In addition to this encouraging statistic, 2.6 million tonnes of food waste are produced each year, two thirds of which is avoidable.
In view of its figures, it seems important that local communities actively engage in promoting healthy and sustainable food.
Because the gastronomic world is crawling with committed citizens who defend healthy and sustainable food, bring people and cultures together and fight body and soul to reduce food waste.
Unfortunately, they are unable to disseminate their messages due to a lack of structure adapted to their needs.
We get involved in the process
Chefs en Cuisine is a Biel-based project that aims to support these heroes in the development of their passion and thus foster the awareness of individuals, the promotion of sustainable food and the encouragement of cultural diversity: we wish to give life to a space perfectly adapted to cook and share in a group in a warm environment and let free rein to its creativity.
The space will consist of two fully equipped kitchens accessible to people with reduced mobility, available for rent.
The first space, called the Atelier Culinaire, is organized so that 12 people can cook together and then eat their preparations.
The second area, called the Atelier Dégustation, is suitable for one person to cook and can accommodate 10 people and have their preparations tasted. It also features a video system ready to capture your best recipes and shared moments.
And the icing on the cake
By offering individuals a space where they can exchange ideas on food topics, we hope not only to support the activity of entrepreneurs in the field but also to introduce as many people as possible to sustainable cooking, contribute to a massive reduction in food waste in the Bienne region, break the ice between cultures and encourage openness and tolerance.
But to achieve this, we need your help!
Starting a project that requires a specific infrastructure always requires significant financial resources. That's why Chefs en Cuisine needs you!
We put the little dishes in the big ones
To set up two fully equipped kitchens, we depend entirely on private support.
The purpose of the collection is to allow us to transform former offices into a House of culinary experiences and discoveries. The cost of the two kitchens, including one XXL, fully equipped to current standards costs around CHF 110,000 (design plans, cooking equipment, refrigeration, storage, work surfaces, washing, extraction, assembly), plus the upgrading to electrical standards and the creation of a water drainage system (around CHF 25,000 combined). We also have about CHF 15,000 in miscellaneous development costs (complete tableware for 60 people, cooking equipment, pastry equipment, various kitchen equipment, tables, chairs, decorations).
The total budget is around CHF 150,000. Our contribution will be about CHF 75,000 and we will make a conventional loan of CHF 50,000.
Everything has been thought out so that everyone can spend a moment in a comfortable and friendly kitchen.

Events open to all
- The opening party will take place thanks to your support during the first quarter of 2020
- Culinary expert presentations will take place at lunchtime during the week and on Saturday mornings.
- Presentations of the flavours of the world will take place on the last Sunday of the month.
- Cooking classes will be held on weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
