Our story
Dive Bär was always meant to be a destination where people could come enjoy amazing craft beers brewed on site, along with other craft beverages like ciders, sodas and coffee, and a delectable food offering. And we love working working with local producers and other artisans like us. That’s what awaits you at the New Dive Bär.
Opening in late Summer 2022, Dive Bär Gland Gare Sud will complement its food and drink offering with family-friendly events and experiences: tastings, brewery tours, community events, workshops… We’re full of crazy ideas and the sky is the limit.
Located in a vacant lot right next to Gland train station—hands down the best location in Gland—Dive Bär Gland Gare Sud is going to be housed in a movable building made up of modular containers and will feature a brewery, tap room, light fare, events and entertainment. It’s a long-awaited destination not only for the people of Gland, but for anyone living between Geneva and Montreux—it’s a short journey by train. There’s something for everyone, from morning commuters to the summer evening crowd.
First-place winner of the 2020 Gland New Economy Prize, Dive Bär Gland Gare Sud also brings together all the elements needed for tomorrow’s economy:
- A circular business model: We’ll thrive by helping other local businesses and farmers to thrive.
- Sustainability: Dive Bär is engaged in the Swiss Triple Impact program, we like things organic if possible and we’re always seeking to minimize our environmental impact.
- Community: We believe in contributing to the community and region we live and work in.
- Craft Everything: It’s our motto and it’s how we do it—if we can make it, we will!
Who is behind Dive Bär?
Dive Bär Craft Brewery was co-founded by Jonathon Klassen and David Shotlander in 2016. From Jon’s kitchen, the brewery outgrew three brewing spaces and now, without our own brewery, we’re brewing at friends’ and keeping Dive Bär going strong.
We both have “real jobs” to keep us going for now and we’ve spent all our spare time and personal savings on getting Dive Bär to where it is today. Of course, we’re surrounded by amazing people who’ve helped make it all possible.
We need your help!
Our goal of creating the “Dive Bär Experience” is becoming a reality this summer. Dive Bär is the product of over six long years of hard work, a passion for craft beer and a love for sharing both our beers and our love of good things.
Brewing craft beer is fun and rewarding. But unless you can grow to a certain size, it’s almost impossible to make a living from it. Most craft brewers never get there because it takes not just time and passion, but money. Lots of it.
But we’re almost there!
Our family, friends and supporters have helped us raise much of what it takes to buy the brewing system, do the construction work, design and order the containers and a thousand other things.
But we need your help to get to the finish line—to outfit the kitchen, build a bar, turn the patio into an eclectic and eco-friendly oasis of greenery, fun and relaxation.
Simply put, we need your help to put in all the finishing touches that will make our Dive Bär… your Dive Bär.
